erebus

Erebus is honestly so much more than just my dog. He’s my service dog, my sport partner, and my best friend. He helps me through everyday life and gives me more independence, but he’s also the reason I’ve gotten out there and tried so many different things. We train together, compete together, try new sports, and are always learning something new. We’ve had our ups and downs and plenty of crazy Malinois moments, but I wouldn’t change any of it. He’s always there when I need him, whether he’s working or just being Erebus. I really couldn’t imagine my life without him. 

Erebus is definitely your typical Malinois in a lot of ways. He’s smart, intense, energetic, and always ready to do something. He loves to work and sometimes thinks everything we do needs to become a training session or a game. But he also has such a goofy side that people don’t always expect. He has a huge personality, can be very dramatic, and definitely has his own opinions. When it’s time to work, though, he knows how to switch gears and focus. He can go from being completely serious to being the biggest goofball in seconds, and that’s one of my favorite things about him. 

Erebus is pretty much my do-it-all dog. He’s my trained service dog, but we also do a bunch of different dog sports together. He competes in disc, and this year we got 1st place in Women’s Pro at the 2026 Hero Cup Long Distance, which was such a special accomplishment for us. We also train in agility, tricks, obedience, and are always trying something new. For his service work, he does things like medication and water reminders, creates space for me in crowds, helps me when I need extra support, and can even tug doors open. One of my favorite things about Erebus is how versatile he is. He can go from being my service dog to competing with me, to learning some completely random trick just because I thought it would be fun. At the end of the day, though, he’s still just Erebus, and that’s my favorite version of him.
